Yes I appreciate you want a different shape , I was trying to high light that there is a plethora of ways to achieve this so just really a matter of finding something that match's your tool/skill/funds.

As you can see I have visited this many times , especially as winter draws in :D

Also further research has turned up some new stuff so I am happy with that.

Sorry to hijack your thread good luck with your project , do you have a drawing of what you are trying to achieve ?

regards Paul

Paul: No problem with hijacking, you are contributing, Discussion is good.

What I will be trying to achieve is something based on the the Nissan BladeGlider, or the AventyBike, or ... Might be a little ambitious as I will have to get more familiar with using Blender for design when I get closer to that stage. Was making progress but then a new version came out. As the trike, and add-ons will have a bit of weight, I need the body to be light but strong where it is needed such as my body supporting areas and essential bits where required to hold its shape. The whole body will be supported on the front section ahead of the rear suspension pivot point.

Hi Kevin!
You made a statement about spider silk. You may have seen this umbrella based fairing. https://newatlas.com/hase-bikes-klimax-faired-trike/19732/
I'm not sure which way you are trying to go. Monocoque shell to support mechanicals or frame built bike/ trike covered by (possibly) removable body? High speed freak or daily driver for grocery duties?
Jeffstuff!
Sorry, Jetstuff. I don't recall seeing your post before today.

There is often a difference between one's dreamed up intentions and what the real world dictates. I only have a mental image of a general body shape at the moment to go with my eLecTricks build.. Despite what I would like to do, the final design will be dictated by ease of construction and where I can stick what on the completed trike - and the trike still has to be completed first. It is slowly getting to that point.

Hi there

Well a veneer is a single ' layer ' of wood [ or ply ], plywood is made of glued veneers obviously not many layers when you get down to those thicknesses , they are used in model making boats/aircraft and may be hard to find in 8ft x 4ft sheets.

If you used 1/4" and made large lightning cutouts in it , then could be clad in 1/16th making the whole lighter.

The RWS is a wooden prototype , the wood is a very cheap 3/4" building board as you can see multiply plies so is quite strong but ugly as you can see on some of the pictures faults in the veneers have been cut out and filled before laminating.

Terrys velomobile

Made from Luan ? [ an American term for cheap plywood designed for door skins ] and based on a paper model of a velomobile.
