I've seen Eric Teboul on his rocket bike at Santa Pod a few times. At least the bearings and tyres on his have a chance. I imagine the bearings and tyres on a cycle based rocket bike are destined to fail quite spectacularly.

I often try and visualise a broken spoke or two at anything over 60kph. I guess in this case if anything catastrophically failed he would be well in front of it by the time he realised it - if he ever realised it. It looks like an unnatural act to me. Call me chicken if you like but I am a safer chicken.

My cozy little nook in the corner!
Personally, I'd be fearful at anything above 50 mph.

42 mph is my personal record, coasting down a fairly steep,
mile-long hill on my first bent, back in 1985. Even at THAT
modest speed, I kept thinking about my tires, & the fact
that all I had was rim brakes!
