Well got the front end carved out and the BB welded into it :-

not the prettiest welds however the pieces were thick and there were some gaps to fudge over ;)

not perfectly square either ! however with the sloping ends very difficult to measure the thing with any accuracy :-

I decided 1/8th inch either way was not going to make a heap of difference so applied the heat.

next up I need a pivot ?

I have 2 made but unused ball bearing pivots , I think it is time to deploy one of those ?

weld the shell into the square end opposite the BB and then make some brackets to allow it to be bolted to the rod end bearings mount ?

all for now Python pilot signing off ......

You might be pardoned for thinking that till I put the pedals on and realised [ I think ] I have the BB in wrong way round !

I took a great deal of trouble dismantlement of an old one and put the parts into the shell I was welding in , I marked the right hand side but lost those marks when I cleaned it up still it was clamped in what could go wrong ?

Well whilst trying to find the position requiring the least contortion to weld it the clamp slipped off and the shell went floor wards obviously [ now ] I realise when I reclamped it I got it wrong DOH still with a sealed BB and some locking compound it should be ok ?

so this is what it looks like against the Mk1 rear end ? it appears to line up well ?

So I decided to check a few angles ?

first up my piece of wood 56' it proudly proclaims ?

well not quite !

rear end of Mk1 trike :-

Hmm not quite twice ?

Maybe the end of the new piece is better ?

Not quite right thrice ?

So it would appear the angle for a Python trike is not critical ?

It would be interesting to know Pegasus trike pivot angle has his trike was considerable more lively then mine , as he warned me you look over your shoulder and it changes lanes !

all for now peeps

Hmmm...... but put the "Digital-Wangle-fondler" on the ground and check your reference. The ground may not be level. ;-)
Yes! locking compound will sort that. Its pedals that unwind themselves more than BB's.

I did test the rear end and it was sat at 0.2'

Poor answer ? I expected a colour ?

Your welds look good, especially compared to mine.

How low are you sitting on that trike?
I find mine low and I even raised the seat a bit, but yours look a lot lower.

I had heard that you were a specialist in this regard. ;)

Well, blue will work...but just to be safe...use green, and NEVER, EVER expect to undo it again without an O/A torch. ;)

OK that's about the same that I have.
That is one thing I surtenly change as I build a new frame.
But it is also nice to sit that low.

Hang on a mo ......

whats this :-

But the pedals will be the right way around when you turn the BB spindle around ? is this southern witchcraft mean to bamboozle us northern folk ?

No, I was remarking that when you put the chainrings (Std cranks) on the wrong side, the pedals can unwind themselves.
BB-Shell is not so picky, is it?

The pivot angle is about 58'. Most 2 wheel phytons are 60' or more and yours 54'. I still haven't cut the rod ends so there is room for adjustment.
I might play with the angle and see what happens. Or could it be that the longer span between the rod ends, is what makes my python more lively?

Pegasus thanks useful to know I think I read somewhere a different angle for trike to the bikes ? unsure why ?

Some bikes report excess stability and the riders say they are difficult to get to turn their natural tendency is to go in a straight line [ if you can keep them upright ] this is also influenced by how long the wheel base is I think ?

In an unprecedented display of North - South détente [ instigated by the North I may add ;) ]

A slightly soft southerner was allowed unrestricted access to a piece of advanced Northern technology ?

The smugness of the Northerner when allowed access to the Southern technology almost soured the brief show of camaraderie.

The Southerner was left wondering how they had lagged behind so much in the technology race.....

.. and whether he dare show his face again ?

I see a beautiful Dutch flag. 😊
His attempt to apologise to the Dutch for all the atrocities and etiquette mistakes perpetrated on Dutch cycle paths 😁

They (the Dutch people) must learn to live in fear of the return of "Wrong Gear Clarke".
Sadly, after Brexit they will have the perfect excuse to deny me entry to their cycling paradise. ;)

Hahaha tourists and Dutch cycle paths.
It's a dangerous combination.
Some tips to blend in.
Don't wear a helmet, use your bell a lot and ride just a bit harder than the others.
O and don't smile. 🤣

It's the morning greeting that eludes me ?
You can say :-
Hi
good morning
hello

and you always get a different response from the list back ?
