How do I weld to 14mm bolts together ?

I found that I could reach 1/3rd of the circumference at a time, so I welded, let cool while firmly clamped, then rotated.... rinse-repeat for each of the 3-layers of metal deposited. It wasn't "hard" just a pain to do.

I challenge anyone to guess what I am making here!!

Is it a "magic" trick involving numbers; where the "Victim" chooses a number without telling you what it is and magically that's the number that pops down into the drawer?

How do I weld to 14mm bolts together ?

When I did this to produce 12mm Stainless track-rods I was advised by Sandman to do the following: Grind the ends you want to weld together into blunt/shallow "cones". Put the 2 pieces into a section of small size (12-25mm) angle-iron and clamp them in place (G-Clamps or Jubilee clips). Weld...

    Golden rules of tidying ?

I want to add two rules. Addition 1. Never, ever, ever allow your significant-other to do any "tidying" of your space. You will never locate a darned thing ever again. 🤪 Addition 2. The tidiness of any workshop is inversely proportional to the enjoyment and fun the owner of said workshop is...

I think you very much "dodged a bullet" there. ;)

Any down side to using 1" tube?

I believe @FrankCrank uses 2 x 1 stainless on his creations. The problem with a trike and a vertically oriented spine might be twist/flex over rough terrain perhaps? Square tubes have less of a tendency to twist I think. If we look at the commercial trike world what do they use...

Any down side to using 1" tube?

38mm or 40mm in 16 gauge is fine for most situations 50mm is a bit OTT, but can be used. I had my first made in 40mm x40mm @ 2.5mm thick, was unbreakable.....but very, very heavy. Everything since has been in 38.8mm square (16 Gauge) or in 38mm round or 43mm round. Round can look much nicer...

    Another DIY Chain Whip/Wrench

Very God-Fearing them Germans. Day of rest/peace etc. We used to be like that in the UK (when I was a child) and supermarkets would shut at 3PM on a Saturday with no Sunday opening at all; but now everywhere is open on a Sunday till 4 pm. Apart from now during lockdown that is.

Any down side to using 1" tube?

For the main parts of a frame, yes, unless it is used in a scaled-down model for a non-obese child.

Anyone own one of these ?

Yup, the variable angled stop doesn't (stop that is) at the angle you set unless you also do up its pivot bolt firmly (a bit of a faff that). The screw jack end of the clamp tends to want to slide along any piece of material not at a right-angle. Evo-Stick a piece of inner-tube to the face...

    So what's next?

I think the rider is on the wrong-side of the pivot, but there are some great ideas at work there in the front triangle dept.

Horizontal bicycle plans - a question

If you are adding a mid-drive like a Bafang or a hub-drive, then these are both possible on the Delta Wolf or the Aurora.

Horizontal bicycle plans - a question

Hello Michal, All of the plans for Atomic Zombie Recumbent trikes are to found HERE. From your introduction I would suggest either the Aurora or Timberwolf as being suitable for your needs. On a trike you can go as slowly as you like without falling over, stop for a rest and restart...

    So what's next?

Yes indeed Ed' and beautiful your "other works" were indeed. Sadly, I am lacking in any of the artistic skills entirely. I am 3-D blind, have poor depth perception therefore, I am tone-deaf, no sense of rhythm, and have what can only be described as a "good face for radio", so my options...

    So what's next?

Nooooo........ having far too much fun and "me" time without the little ankle-biters under my feet 4 days a week. These are just "wheels" there is no new frame/bike to put them on......yet. ;)
