FREE !! electric hub motor - untested - just pay postage

Hi all
I have an electric hub motor NOT in a wheel and untested by me , no battery or ESC.
It says on it PY26"36V350W18082089 and has a Shimano 6 speed screw on cassette.
It weighs a shade over 3kg unboxed.
I will send it for the cost of postage , else it is being thrown away :-(

Paul

Don't throw it away Paul. If nobody else wants it before you decide you've waited long ehough I'll happily have it for the postage costs. I've no immediate use for it but it would make a good mid drive unit at some stage. I only use 36volt batteries and 350 watts is a sensible power for a confirmed slow coach like me.
Using one of these as a mid drive is reasonably simple and effective and ideal for a AZ bike or trike.

You would always be top of any list !

Let me post a couple of pictures up to show you the state , and maybe someone with more knowledge can tell me how to test it before we commit ?

This is it :-

Seems this may be a no go as there is no mounting hardware for the wheel and it seems it is a 11mm axle instead of the normal 9mm so nothing I have fits ?

Paul

I suspect it'll accept a std m14 nut and any vice will hold it for a test but without a hall effect controller I'm not sure it can be tested. More to the point though is what is that large piece of housing on the opposite side to the wires? It must be for very wide drop outs. Is it from a bike or something weird? It may be to fit a fat bike dropouts but not using regular fat bike distance between the two spoke sets. Presumably the six bolts are brake disc pattern.

I found it outside a house put there for the scrap man , it was in a bicycle wheel unsure whether 26" or something more exotic like 700c

Paul

Hi Paul. Yes it's a bit of an oddity at least to me. I hate to see things thrown out but in all honesty I doubt I could actually use it myself unfortunately.

I think testing it would be to test the continuity between all the phase wires (thick ones} which should show a few ohms. The other wires will be for the hall sensors and I think they are tested using a meter to show a deflection as the unit is turned. I have a tester which can show any problems with these units but not worth paying out for one unless you're going to be messing with ebike stuff.

All in all I don't think it would be for me but thanks for offering it. Maybe one of the other sites which cover ebikes would be worth trying as someone could probably tell what it is off of. Endless Sphere is really good but mostly American. Nonetheless they may well have an idea of it's origins.

Thanks again
John
