No ride today sub zero temperatures and rain/snow forecast for later when I would be cycling back took the shine off the day.
However no progress can be made by looking out the window , so poorly dressed for the weather I ventured out to cut some steel and drill some holes.
2 cuts , some filing and 4 holes later we have this :-
Inside the rear frame tube is some trimmed down 3mm angle on the left bolted where the original left bar mounted , bar now moved to holes on right.
As per original Python front end bars are now level with pivot instead of being in front of it , giving me this:-
As you can see left bar now well back and looking good ?
Except as you can see there is a Calliphora in the ointment ?
The left bar no longer squeezes under the seat in a tidy manner and so all left hand steering lock has disappeared
That was the first hour in the garage before lunch , after lunch I ventured out for another hour and got the right side done,
However I did not make the bars very well in the first place and the right hand bar has a different geometry and actually clears the seat
I though of chopping the left off leaving a stub and sleeving it back together however the straight section is only 1.5" ish and so maybe to small for that to work ?
I could cut the left from it's mounting plate and re-weld it , shouldn't be to hard just more work !
So I need to make a jig based on the right hand bar , the jig will cause some mental anguish as I have to transpose it when done for the other side I think ?
Still struggling on Paul
